Target Information
PKMYT1 serine/threonine kinase is part of a family of neural-specific, zinc finger-containing DNA-binding proteins that bind to promoter regions of proteolipid proteins in the central nervous system. It plays a role in neural development. MYT1, along with a related CCHC zinc finger protein, is expressed in developing neurons of the mammalian CNS. Recombinant PKMYT1 fragments with zinc finger domains bind the same cis-regulatory element in the PLP1 promoter in vitro, requiring Zn²⁺ for DNA binding.
