Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP (basic-region leucine zipper) family. It regulates downstream target genes involved in cellular growth, survival, and other physiological processes. Phosphorylation at serine 63 by various kinases enhances transactivation and transcriptional activity, contributing to cell transformation. Gene fusions with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) produce chimeric proteins associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 6.
