Target Information
BACH1.3 is a transcription factor belonging to the cap‘n’collar type of basic region leucine zipper factor family (CNC-bZip). The encoded protein contains BTB/POZ domains that facilitate protein–protein interactions and oligomer formation. When forming a heterodimer with MafK, it acts as a repressor of Maf recognition element (MARE) and inhibits transcription. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, and some exons overlap with the C21orf41 gene, which is transcribed in the opposite direction but does not encode a protein.
