Target Information
CCR7 is a member of the G protein–coupled receptor family, belonging to the chemokine receptor subfamily. It is induced by Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) and mediates EBV effects on B lymphocytes. CCR7 is expressed in blood, bone marrow, lymph node, and intestine, particularly in lymphoid tissues and activated B and T lymphocytes. It regulates memory T cell migration to inflamed tissues and promotes dendritic cell maturation. Chemokine ligand CCL19 (ECL) is a specific ligand for CCR7. Other C–C chemokine receptors include CCR1, CCR2A, CCR3, CCR4, CCR5, and the Duffy blood group antigen, all of which are important in T cell chemotaxis and phagocytic cell migration to inflammatory sites.
