Target Information
CD122 (Interleukin 2 receptor) is involved in T cell-mediated immune responses and is primarily expressed in the hematopoietic system. It exists in three forms:
- Low affinity form: Alpha subunit monomer, not involved in signal transduction
- Intermediate affinity form: Alpha/beta subunit heterodimer
- High affinity form: Alpha/beta/gamma subunit heterotrimer
The intermediate and high affinity forms mediate receptor endocytosis and mitogenic signal transduction.
The CD122 gene encodes the beta subunit, a type I membrane protein.
Dysfunction of CD122 is associated with oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and rheumatoid factor negative juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
