Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a small family of proteins that bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) with conserved motifs, RNP1 and RNP2, essential for DNA binding. RBMS proteins are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. This protein was identified through complementation of yeast cdc2 and cdc13 mutants and is thought to suppress these mutants by inducing translation of cdc2.
