Target Information
The RBMS2 protein belongs to a small family of proteins that bind single-stranded DNA/RNA. These proteins contain two ribonucleoprotein consensus sequences (RNP-CS) with conserved RNP1 and RNP2 motifs, essential for DNA binding. RBMS proteins are involved in DNA replication, gene transcription, cell cycle progression, and apoptosis. RBMS2 was identified through phenotypic complementation of yeast cdc2 and cdc13 mutants and is thought to suppress these mutants by inducing translation of cdc2.
