Target Information

The Strep-tag II is an eight-residue minimal peptide sequence (Trp-Ser-His-Pro-Gln-Phe-Glu-Lys) that exhibits intrinsic affinity toward streptavidin and can be fused to recombinant proteins in various fashions.
The original Strep-tag was a nine amino acid peptide with high specificity and affinity toward streptavidin, allowing simple purification of proteins via affinity columns but restricted to the C-terminus of recombinant proteins.
To enable placement at the N-terminus, it was re-engineered and renamed Strep-tag II.
