Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of PA5-77778 was sufficient for detection of FNIP1 in 15 µg of mouse kidney cell lysates by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-rabbit IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 130 kDa.
Target Information
FNIP1 encodes a protein that binds to the tumor suppressor protein folliculin and to AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). The encoded protein participates in the regulation of cellular metabolism and nutrient sensing by modulating the AMPK and target of rapamycin (mTOR) signaling pathways.
This gene has a closely related paralog encoding a protein with similar binding activities. Both related proteins associate with the molecular chaperone heat shock protein-90 (Hsp90), negatively regulate its ATPase activity, and facilitate its association with folliculin.
Diseases associated with FNIP1 include Birt-Hogg-Dube Syndrome and Pleural Disease.
