Target Information
DNA-PK is a heterotrimeric, DNA-dependent protein kinase that initiates signaling cascades in response to DNA damage.
It is an atypical kinase closely related to PI3 kinases and can be inhibited by small molecules targeting PI3 kinases.
DNA-PK encodes a component of the mediator complex, a transcriptional coactivator required for the expression of most genes.
The mediator complex interacts with RNA polymerase II to promote transcriptional pre-initiation complex formation.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for DNA-PK.
