Target Information
Msi2 (musashi homolog 2), also known as MSI2H, is a 328 amino acid cytoplasmic protein containing two RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains. It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels and functions as an RNA-binding protein involved in regulating target mRNA expression. Msi2 plays a role in stem cell proliferation and maintenance in the central nervous system and is upregulated in response to brain injury, suggesting involvement in tissue regeneration.
Chromosomal aberrations of the Msi2 gene are linked to chronic myeloid leukemia progression. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing.
