Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The Thrombospondin proteins (TSP 1–5) form a family of glycoproteins involved in cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix signaling. These extracellular, cell-surface proteins create complexes of homo- and hetero-multimers. Thrombospondins play roles in development, platelet aggregation, cell adhesion and migration, and cell cycle progression.
Thrombospondin 1 is released from platelets in response to thrombin stimulation and is a transient component of the extracellular matrix during tissue development and repair.
Thrombospondin 2 shares high homology with Thrombospondin 1 and is thought to have overlapping but distinct functions.
Thrombospondin 3 is a developmentally regulated heparin-binding protein, while Thrombospondin 4 is neuronally expressed and promotes neurite outgrowth.
