Target Information
IL-6은 염증 및 B 세포 성숙에 관여하는 사이토카인을 암호화하는 유전자입니다. 이 단백질은 자가면역 질환이나 감염 시 발열을 유발할 수 있는 내인성 발열원으로 작용합니다. IL-6은 급성 및 만성 염증 부위에서 주로 발현되며, interleukin 6 receptor, alpha를 통해 전사적 염증 반응을 유도합니다.
이 유전자의 기능은 당뇨병, 전신성 소아 류마티스 관절염 등 다양한 염증 관련 질환과 연관되어 있으며, SARS-CoV-2 감염(COVID-19) 등 바이러스 감염 시에도 IL-6 단백질의 상승이 관찰됩니다.
IL6 관련 질환으로는 Kaposi Sarcoma, Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis 등이 보고되었습니다.
