Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) plays a key role in vascular, renal, and myocardial physiology.

ACE2 converts Angiotensin I (AngI) to Ang1-9 and Angiotensin II (AngII) to Ang1-7.
Loss of ACE2 expression in knockout mice results in reduced cardiac contractility, highlighting its importance in heart function regulation.
