Target Information

DAPK3 is a serine/threonine kinase functionally linked to cell motility, smooth muscle contractility, and cell death processes. DAPK3, encoded by ZIPK, is a component of desmosomes and the epidermal cornified envelope in keratinocytes. The N-terminal domain interacts with the plasma membrane, while the C-terminus interacts with intermediate filaments. Through its rod domain, it forms complexes with envoplakin, potentially linking the cornified envelope and desmosomes. AKT1/PKB, a kinase involved in growth and survival signaling, interacts with DAPK3, suggesting a role in AKT1-mediated localization and signaling.
