Target Information

A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins that bind to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), confining the holoenzyme to discrete cellular locations.
This gene encodes a member of the AKAP family. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding isoforms with C-terminal dbl oncogene homology (DH) and pleckstrin homology (PH) domains.

• DH domain: Associated with guanine nucleotide exchange activation for Rho/Rac GTPases, converting them to the active form for signal transduction.
• PH domain: Has multiple functions.
  These isoforms act as scaffolding proteins coordinating Rho signaling, anchoring PKA, and enhancing ligand-dependent activity of estrogen receptors α and β.
