Product Specific Information
This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The process involves cloning antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.
Advantages:
- Enhanced specificity and sensitivity
- Lot-to-lot consistency
- Animal origin-free formulation
- Broader immunoreactivity due to rabbit immune repertoire
This antibody specifically recognizes Mouse ASAH2/HNAC1.
Target Information
Sphingolipids are hydrolyzed by ceramidases to yield sphingosine and fatty acids. ASAH2 is a neutral ceramidase that regulates sphingolipid signaling metabolites at the cell surface, catalyzing the hydrolysis of the N-acyl linkage of ceramide at an optimal pH of 6.5–8.5.
ASAH2 functions as a type II integral membrane protein, which can be cleaved into a soluble secreted form. It acts as a repressor of apoptosis by:
- Reducing C16-ceramide levels to prevent ceramide-induced apoptosis
- Generating sphingosine, which has both mitogenic and apoptosis-inducing roles
ASAH2 is ubiquitously expressed, with higher levels in the intestine, kidney, skeletal muscle, and heart. Studies indicate that ASAH2 is a key enzyme in dietary sphingolipid catabolism and regulates bioactive sphingolipid metabolites in the intestinal tract.
