This antibody has specificity for Human VNN2/Vanin-2.
Target Information
The VNN2 gene encodes a member of the Vanin family of proteins that share sequence similarity with biotinidase. These proteins include secreted and membrane-associated forms, some of which are involved in hematopoietic cell trafficking. Although no biotinidase activity has been demonstrated, they possess pantetheinase activity, which may play a role in oxidative-stress response.
The encoded protein is a GPI-anchored cell surface molecule involved in transendothelial migration of neutrophils. The gene is located on chromosome 6q23-q24, close to other vanin genes, and alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
