Target Information

ACTC1 is part of the actin family, a group of highly conserved proteins involved in cell motility.
Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin) as a two-stranded helix.
Each actin molecule can bind to four others.
Alpha actins are found in muscle tissues and are key components of the contractile apparatus.
Defects in this gene are associated with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDC) and familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHC).
