Target Information
LYVE1 (Lymphatic vessel endothelial hyaluronan receptor 1) is a major receptor for hyaluronan (HA) on lymph vessel walls. It encodes a 322-residue type I integral membrane glycoprotein with 41% similarity to the CD44 HA receptor and contains a single Link module, the prototypic HA binding domain. LYVE1 binds both soluble and immobilized HA, but unlike CD44, it colocalizes with HA on the luminal face of lymph vessels and is absent from blood vessels. It serves as a specific marker for lymphatic endothelium and is implicated in the regulation of leukocyte and tumor cell trafficking to lymph nodes. LYVE1 dysfunction has been associated with Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome.
