Anti-ALCOHOL DEHYDROGENASE is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum through a multi-step process including delipidation, salt fractionation, and ion-exchange chromatography, followed by extensive dialysis.
Immunoelectrophoresis shows a single precipitin arc against anti-Rabbit Serum and purified Alcohol Dehydrogenase [Yeast].
Cross-reactivity with Alcohol Dehydrogenase from other sources may occur but has not been specifically determined.
Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the alcohol dehydrogenase family. The encoded protein is the alpha subunit of class I alcohol dehydrogenase, which forms homo- and heterodimers of alpha, beta, and gamma subunits.
Alcohol dehydrogenases catalyze the oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes.
The gene is active in the liver during early fetal life but weakly active in adult liver.
It is located in a cluster with six additional alcohol dehydrogenase genes on chromosome 4.
Mutations in this gene may influence personality traits and substance dependence.
For Research Use Only.
