This antibody detects endogenous levels of p70 S6 Kinase only when phosphorylated at Ser427.

Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical kinase catalytic domains that phosphorylates several residues of the S6 ribosomal protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and plays essential roles in growth factor–regulated cell proliferation, cell motility, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of phosphoinositide (PI) 3-kinase, its main physiological target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which contributes to upregulation of protein synthesis. The kinase activity of p70 S6 kinase promotes increased protein synthesis and cell proliferation. Amplification and overexpression of p70 S6 kinase are observed in some breast cancer cell lines.
