Specificity: Recognises human HSPB1.
Target Information
Cells respond to environmental stress by increasing expression of heat shock proteins. HSPB1 (heat shock protein beta-1 or HSP27) functions as a molecular chaperone, maintaining denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. It plays roles in stress resistance and actin organization, and regulates processes such as phosphorylation and axonal transport of neurofilament proteins. Mutations in HSPB1 can lead to Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 2F and distal hereditary motor neuronopathy type 2B.
