Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Paraoxonase-1 (PON1) is a calcium-dependent ester hydrolase associated with apoA-I in HDL and prevents oxidation of LDL, reducing atherogenic oxidized-LDL formation.
Polymorphisms in the human PON1 gene correlate with coronary artery disease. Reduced PON1 activity is observed in individuals prone to atherosclerosis, such as those with diabetes, familial hypercholesterolemia, or renal disease.
PON2 and PON3 are related enzymes; PON3 shares similar activity to PON1 but differs in substrate specificity. Both PON1 and PON3 may lower the risk of coronary artery disease and atherosclerosis. Human PON3 shares conserved cysteine residues with PON1, suggesting functional importance in vivo. PON1-based catalytic scavengers are being explored for protection against organophosphate intoxication.
