Product Specific Information
In direct ELISAs, less than 1% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Ephrin-A1, Ephrin-A2, recombinant human Ephrin-A3, Ephrin-A4, Ephrin-B3, and other related proteins is observed.
Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
Ephrin A5 is a cell surface GPI-bound ligand for Eph receptors, a family of receptor tyrosine kinases crucial for migration, repulsion, and adhesion during neuronal, vascular, and epithelial development. It binds promiscuously to Eph receptors on adjacent cells, leading to contact-dependent bidirectional signaling. Forward signaling occurs downstream of the receptor, while reverse signaling occurs downstream of the ephrin ligand.
Ephrin A5 activates EPHA3 to regulate cell-cell adhesion and cytoskeletal organization. Interaction with EPHA2 may influence lens fiber cell shape and transparency. It also mediates communication between pancreatic islet cells to regulate glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and interacts with EPHA7 to modulate brain development.
