Target Information
The Suppressor of Cytokine Signaling (SOCS) and cytokine-inducible SH2 proteins are a family of intracellular proteins that regulate immune cell responses to cytokines.
SOCS1 suppresses dendritic cell (DC) and T cell hyperactivation by inhibiting JAK tyrosine kinase, which is essential for cytokine receptor signaling.
Additionally, SOCS1 exhibits E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, promoting polyubiquitination and degradation of target proteins via the proteasome.
Through this mechanism, SOCS1 negatively regulates Toll-like receptor (TLR2 and TLR4) signaling by mediating degradation of the TLR adaptor protein TIRAP.
