Target Information
TRPA1 is a TRP-related ion channel responsive to cold temperatures and pungent compounds, involved in nociceptor and hair cell transduction. It is a transformation-associated gene product in lung epithelia, mainly distributed in sensory neurons. Blocking TRPA1 may help treat cold hyperalgesia due to inflammation or nerve damage. TRPA1 is also expressed outside the CNS and is dysregulated during oncogenic transformation. Its structure is related to ankyrin and transmembrane proteins, potentially functioning in signal transduction and growth control.
