This antibody detects endogenous levels of total IPO8 protein.
Target Information
Importin 8 is a 1037 amino acid nuclear protein with a RAN binding site. It belongs to the RAN-binding protein superfamily and shares an N-terminal sequence motif with importin-beta that accounts for RAN GTP binding.
It binds to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) and acts as a transport carrier mediating nuclear import of ribosomal proteins with a classical nuclear localization signal.
Importin 8, together with RANGTP and RANBP1, inhibits GAP stimulation of the RAN GTPase. It also facilitates nuclear import of SRP19 along with transportin.
