Target Information
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascades include MAPK (ERK), MAPK kinase (MEK), and MAPK kinase kinase (MEKK). MAPKKK/MEKK phosphorylates and activates MAPKK/MEK, which in turn activates MAPK. These kinases are highly conserved across species such as yeast, Drosophila, and mammals.
MEKK1 phosphorylates and activates MAPKK1 and MAPKK2 (MEK1/MEK2), leading to MAP kinase activation and efficient stimulation of the JNK cascade. The protein contains one RING-type zinc finger and one SWIM-type zinc finger.
