This antibody binds CD89 in the extracellular domain 2, outside the IgA-binding site.
Target Information
This gene encodes a receptor for the Fc region of IgA and belongs to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. The receptor is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on myeloid lineage cells including neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and eosinophils. It mediates immune responses to pathogens through interaction with IgA-opsonized targets, triggering processes such as phagocytosis, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, and release of inflammatory mediators. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
