Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues, heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) at 95°C for 45 minutes, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes before staining.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor and is present both as a membrane-bound and soluble form. CD14 binds LPS through interaction with lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), contributing to innate immune responses. Soluble CD14 (sCD14) can distinguish structural variations in LPS and aids in neutralization of serum LPS. CD14 also binds apoptotic cells and influences allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same protein. CD14 dysfunction has been linked to mycobacterium chelonae infection and croup.
