Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils.
It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and is released into serum in secreted and cleaved forms.
CD14 binds lipopolysaccharide through lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), an acute phase serum protein.
Soluble CD14 (sCD14) can distinguish structural differences between lipopolysaccharides and aids in neutralization of serum lipopolysaccharides.
Additionally, CD14 binds apoptotic cells and plays roles in allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes.
Alternative splicing yields multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform.
Diseases associated with CD14 dysfunction include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and Croup.
