Target Information
CDH17 gene is a member of the cadherin superfamily, encoding calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The protein is cadherin-like, with an extracellular region containing seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region lacking the conserved cytoplasmic domain. It functions in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter, contributing to oral absorption of peptide-based drugs. It may also play a role in the morphological organization of liver and intestine. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
