Target Information

EB1 family proteins are evolutionarily conserved proteins that bind microtubule plus-ends and centrosomes, regulating the dynamics and organization of microtubules. The MAPRE genes encode the EB1 family proteins.
Human MAPRE1, MAPRE2, and MAPRE3 code for EB1, RP1, and EBF3 proteins, respectively. EB1 family members appear to be expressed ubiquitously.
The EB1 (MAPRE1) gene, located at 20q11.2, is fused to MLL in an adult patient with pro-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
EB1 interacts with the colorectal adenomatous polyposis coli tumor-suppressor protein and plays important roles in microtubule dynamics, cell polarity, and chromosome stability.
