Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat Leptin. Anti-Rat Leptin-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat Leptin by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat Leptin (500-P185G) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat Leptin.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat Leptin by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat Leptin is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Leptin is a 167 amino acid protein hormone that regulates body weight, metabolism, and reproductive function. It is approximately 16 kDa in mass and encoded by the obese (ob) gene. Leptin is predominantly secreted by adipocytes, with smaller amounts from stomach epithelium and placenta. Its receptors are highly expressed in the hypothalamus, T lymphocytes, and vascular endothelial cells. Leptin influences food intake, energy expenditure, adiposity, hematopoiesis, angiogenesis, wound healing, inflammation, immune responses, pubertal development, and fetal growth. It has been studied in obesity, anorexia nervosa, insulin resistance, and hypertension, and also regulates thermogenesis and fatty acid oxidation. Defects in leptin production can cause severe hereditary obesity in rodents and humans.
