Specificity: Binds to a core functional region of murine IL-4, which prevents this cytokine from interacting with its cognate receptor.
Target Information
Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin 4 receptor. IL-4 exhibits a broad range of biological actions. The interleukin 4 receptor also binds to IL13, contributing to overlapping functions between IL-4 and IL13. STAT6, a signal transducer and activator of transcription, plays a key role in mediating IL-4’s immune regulatory signaling. The IL-4 gene, along with IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q. IL-4 is located near IL13, and both genes, along with IL5, are coordinated by long-range regulatory elements spanning approximately 120 kilobases. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant of IL-4.
