Product Specific Information

The IM7 monoclonal antibody reacts with all isoforms of mouse CD44 (Pgp-1). CD44 is expressed by hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, with high expression in bone marrow myeloid cells and memory T cells. Peripheral B and T cells can upregulate CD44 expression. CD44 functions as an adhesion molecule through its binding to hyaluronate, an extracellular matrix component.

Target Information

CD44 is a 100 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and certain epithelial tissues. Multiple isoforms exist, including the predominant CD44H isoform. CD44 serves as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and is involved in cell adhesion, migration, and lymphocyte activation. Expression may be upregulated in carcinomas, potentially linked to metastatic potential. CD44 transcripts undergo complex alternative splicing, resulting in diverse isoforms with distinct functions. Diseases associated with CD44 dysfunction include superficial keratitis and lichen sclerosus.
