Target Information
PTK2B (FAK2) is a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase involved in calcium-induced regulation of ion channels and activation of the MAP kinase signaling pathway. It regulates actin cytoskeleton reorganization, cell polarization, migration, adhesion, spreading, and bone remodeling. FAK2 also plays a role in humoral immune response regulation and is required for normal levels and migration of splenic B-cells. It functions downstream of integrin, collagen, immune, G-protein coupled, cytokine, chemokine, and growth factor receptors, mediating responses to cellular stress. Aberrant expression may contribute to cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Elevated expression has been observed in gliomas, hepatocellular carcinoma, lung cancer, and breast cancer.
