Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes mouse TLR3, also known as CD283 or Toll-like receptor 3. CD283 is a 905 amino acid, approximately 105 kDa, single-pass type I transmembrane glycoprotein associated with endosomal membranes and a member of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family. CD283 functions as a receptor for double-stranded RNA.
Target Information
TLR3 (Toll-like receptor 3, CD283) is a member of the TLR family that plays a fundamental role in pathogen recognition and activation of innate immunity. TLRs are conserved across species and recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) expressed on infectious agents, mediating cytokine production for effective immune response.
TLR3 is highly expressed in placenta and pancreas, and restricted to dendritic leukocytes. It recognizes viral dsRNA and activates NF-κB and type I interferons, contributing to antiviral defense. Unlike other TLRs, TLR3 signals via TRIF instead of MyD88, activating IRF-3 and NF-κB.
TLR3 activation leads to type I interferon induction and inflammatory cytokine production, resulting in dendritic cell maturation. It is known to recognize viruses such as Influenza A and West Nile Virus.
