Transmembrane protein 123 (Tmem123) is a single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the CD164 family.
Tmem123 acts as a novel marker for dendritic cell (DC) maturation. DCs are professional antigen-presenting cells.
It has been reported that Tmem123 may be associated with cell surface expression of CD40 and may play a role in oncotic cell death, characterized by cell and organelle swelling, vacuolization, increased membrane permeability, and cell adhesion.
