The monoclonal antibody 66E2 recognizes human heart-type fatty acid-binding protein (H-FABP) of both natural and recombinant origin.
Target Information
Fatty acid binding proteins (FABP) are small (approximately 13–14 kDa) intracellular proteins with a high degree of tissue specificity. FABPs are cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and play a key role in intracellular fatty acid utilization.
There are at least six distinct FABP types, each with specific tissue expression patterns. Due to their small size, FABPs rapidly leak from damaged or dying cells, leading to elevated serum levels.
Liver FABP serves as a sensitive marker for hepatocellular damage both in vitro and in vivo and is useful for detecting liver injury during and after transplantation.
