Target Information
KDR (FLK1, VEGFR2) is a type III receptor tyrosine kinase that binds vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) with high affinity. It is expressed early in development by endothelial cell precursors. The signalling and trafficking of this receptor are regulated by multiple factors, including Rab GTPase, P2Y purine nucleotide receptor, integrin alphaVbeta3, and T-cell protein tyrosine phosphatase.
Mutations of FLK1 (VEGF Receptor 2) are implicated in infantile capillary hemangiomas.
