세포 내 위치 (Cellular Localization)
Cytoplasm, nucleus, cell membrane, clathrin-coated pit, pseudopodium, cytoplasmic vesicle.
Translocates to the plasma membrane and colocalizes with antagonist-stimulated GPCRs.
Monomeric form predominantly located in the nucleus; oligomeric form in the cytoplasm.
Translocates to the nucleus upon stimulation of OPRD1 (By similarity).
Background
Members of the arrestin/beta-arrestin protein family participate in agonist-mediated desensitization of G-protein-coupled receptors, dampening cellular responses to hormones, neurotransmitters, or sensory signals.
Arrestin beta 1 acts as a cofactor in beta-adrenergic receptor kinase (BARK)-mediated desensitization of beta-adrenergic receptors.
It is highly expressed in peripheral blood leukocytes and plays a major role in regulating receptor-mediated immune functions.
Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms of arrestin beta 1 have been described.
