Product Specific Information
This antibody detects a 130 kDa* protein on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells. The antibody is also recommended for immunocytochemical labeling of cells.
Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of sensations such as coolness, being activated by cold temperature below 25°C. It is also activated by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, and modulation of intracellular pH. TRPM8 is permeable to monovalent cations (Na⁺, K⁺, Cs⁺) and divalent cation Ca²⁺.
Expression of TRPM8 is mostly restricted to prostate epithelial cells, with moderate levels in normal prostate tissue and elevated expression in prostate cancer. TRPM8 mRNA is also expressed in some non-prostatic tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin), but rarely in corresponding normal tissues.
