For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

The membrane-associated protein encoded by this gene belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter superfamily. ABC proteins transport various molecules across cellular membranes and are divided into seven subfamilies: ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, and White.
This protein is a member of the MDR/TAP subfamily, involved in multidrug resistance. It functions as an ATP-dependent drug efflux pump with broad substrate specificity, reducing intracellular drug accumulation and contributing to anticancer drug resistance. Additionally, it serves as a transporter in the blood-brain barrier.
