Target Information
LKB1 (also known as STK11 - Serine/threonine-protein kinase STK11) is a tumor suppressor belonging to the serine/threonine kinase family. It associates with p53 and regulates p53-dependent apoptosis pathways. LKB1 is localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus and translocates to mitochondria during apoptosis. It acts as a master upstream kinase regulating AMPK and related kinases. Mutations in the LKB1 gene are linked to Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
