Target Information
LKB1 (also known as STK11 - Serine/threonine-protein kinase STK11) is a tumor suppressor and a member of the serine/threonine kinase family. It associates with p53 and regulates p53-dependent apoptosis pathways. LKB1 is localized in both cytoplasm and nucleus, and translocates to mitochondria during apoptosis. It acts as a master upstream kinase regulating AMPK-related kinases and AMPK itself. Mutations in the LKB1 gene are associated with Peutz-Jeghers syndrome.
