Product Specific Information

This antibody is predicted to react with Rat, Pig, and Monkey.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits and screen individual clones to select optimal candidates for production.

Advantages:

  • High specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity due to the large rabbit immune repertoire

Target Information

AFP (Alpha Fetoprotein) is a major plasma protein produced by the yolk sac, intestinal tract, and liver during fetal life. AFP expression in adults is often associated with hepatoma or teratoma, though hereditary persistence can occur without pathology.

AFP is considered the fetal counterpart of serum albumin; both genes are located on chromosome 4. AFP exists in monomeric, dimeric, and trimeric forms and can bind copper ions, nickel ions, fatty acids, and bilirubin.

AFP levels in amniotic fluid are used to screen for neural tube defects such as spina bifida and anencephaly. Elevated serum AFP is observed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), teratoblastoma, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and germ cell tumors.

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
