Target Information
SIP1은 SMN 복합체(Survival of Motor Neuron complex)의 구성 단백질 중 하나로, SMN 단백질 및 여러 Gemin 단백질로 이루어져 있습니다.
SMN 복합체는 핵 내의 gems(gemini of coiled bodies)에 위치하며, spliceosomal snRNPs의 조립 및 pre-mRNA 스플라이싱에 필수적입니다.
SIP1은 SMN과 직접 상호작용하며 SMN 복합체 형성에 필요합니다.
마우스에서 이 유전자의 결손은 snRNP 조립 이상과 운동신경 퇴화를 초래하였으며, SIP1 mRNA의 감소는 운동신경 축삭에 영향을 주지 않았으나 SMN mRNA의 감소는 비정상적인 축삭 성장을 나타냈습니다. 이는 SIP1이 SMN 복합체 외의 추가적인 역할을 가질 수 있음을 시사합니다.
