Target Information
The BMAL1 protein is a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor that forms a heterodimer with CLOCK. This complex binds to an E-box upstream of the PER1 gene, activating circadian rhythm-associated genes. Three transcript variants encoding two isoforms have been identified for this gene.
